In 2013, I presented my first solo exhibition, titled ‘El Color es una Expresión, Saturada de Emoción’ (Color is an expression, saturated with emotion), at the Salón Cultural del Banco Atlántida, Tegucigalpa.
Opening on July 17th, the show featured around 40 diverse works, including paintings, cyanotypes, and some innovative pieces using recycled materials.
My artistic vision for this collection centered on the profound emotional and expressive qualities of color, a theme deeply rooted in my observation of nature. I often describe my process this way:
‘The perception in nature and the color observed become essentially an interaction of reflections and sparks of colors. Then images begin to elaborate in the mind, to capture and reflect them onto the canvas.’
The conceptual foundation for this exhibition originated during my master’s studies in Barcelona; it grew out of my master’s thesis, ‘The Attribute of Color is Expressive and Emotive,’ where I explored the dynamic and evolving role of color throughout art history.
A particularly meaningful aspect, integral to the conceptual design of the exhibition, was receiving contributions from several prominent Honduran artists. It was a true honor that they dedicated their written reflections on my work specifically for my first solo show, and these words became part of the materials shared with visitors.
Most of the selected artworks presented are part of my series titled ‘A Palette Loaded with Color and Cyanotypes’.
