My Coffee Illustration Project

This project originated during my Master’s in Graphic Design. The assignment was to design three promotional pieces for an event, with the primary focus on practicing strategic decision-making regarding materials and finishes for print production. Every choice, had to be cohesive with the overall concept of the event.
For this project, I conceptualized a fictional event blending an art exhibition with a coffee tasting. Building on my existing coffee artworks that highlight the beans themselves, I developed coffee-inspired illustrations. A key objective was to integrate vibrant color palettes, fluid organic shapes and compelling textures.

The design tools for this project are Illustrator and Photoshop.

Layout & Design Concept

Below, you’ll find an overview of my design process and the resulting pieces: an invitation, a brochure and a tasting menu.
  • Core Design: The layout was built upon the direct integration of my coffee sketches. I arranged these sketches to serve as both decorative elements and adaptable content containers throughout the project.
  • Front Side: The illustrations, featuring the detailed coffee bean forms, functioned as artistic vessels for key information and logos.
  • Inside/Back Sides: For the inside of the brochure, and the back of both the invitation and tasting menu, these same coffee bean forms were utilized.
  • Content Structure: The bean forms were utilized to creatively frame extensive event information and participant logos on the interior. Here, they were filled with a solid color to create clear, legible areas for supporting text.
  • Finishing: An organic die-cut was incorporated to complement the overall design and evoke the fluidity of coffee (Invite and Brochure).
For a more authentic and immersive presentation, I thoughtfully integrated fictional details such as event dates, participant names, and descriptive text into the design.
To ensure high visual cohesion, I selected a font featuring organic and fluid forms that perfectly blended with the project’s theme.
