Dispersed Fragments: Navigating Memories
The emotional search for what still remains
t’s been a while since my last post. This new series of paintings is the result of a long process of gathering, recovering, and discovering.
It has taken time to move through the drafts and find the right conceptual form for these pieces, but I am finally ready to share a glimpse into how they evolved.
The Heart of the Work
At the heart of this series is the emotional search for what still remains. It is an exploration of the internal “fog” that fragile space where thoughts and images begin to lose their edges.
A Non-Linear Story
This series is intentionally non-cohesive because memory is not a straight line; These paintings are a map of the messy, beautiful process of trying to “keep” what we can, or what we love.
What to Expect
The work lives in the tension between Botanical Anchors, organic forms acting as points of clarity and the Blur of decaying memory.
To tell this story, I use a vocabulary of “Aggressive Preservation.” Elements like industrial staples, map pins, and silhouettes surface to “hold” a memory in place before it slips away. They don’t all appear at once; they only surface when the memory needs them.
Moving Beyond the Canvas
I’m also trying something different this time. To bring these pieces to life in the digital space, I’m mixing my paintings with motion animations and typography. I want to take you deeper into the storytelling.
For the font, I chose CoFo Raffine. Its fluid curves and elegant structure mirror the organic shapes in my paintings, allowing the text to feel less like an overlay and more like a natural extension of the movement on the canvas.
